Egypt’s Ministry of Culture is stepping up coordination with the Ministries of Higher Education and Education to revive school and university theatre as a sustainable platform for creativity, cultural awareness and enlightenment.
Minister of Culture Jehan Zaki met on Thursday with Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research Abdelaziz Konsowa to discuss expanding cooperation aimed at strengthening university students’ artistic engagement by providing greater access to theatre venues where they can develop their talents through acting and improvisation.
The minister noted that university theatre has long served as a cornerstone of Egypt’s artistic leadership and a key source of talent for the country’s theatre and film industries.
At the school level, Zaki is also working with Minister of Education and Technical Education Mohamed Abdel Latif to revive school theatre programmes, with the goal of discovering talented primary and preparatory school students while bringing arts activities to schools across the country.
Zaki said investing in Egypt’s cultural future begins with nurturing creativity among children and young people and giving them opportunities to experience the performing arts on school and university stages.
She added that the ministry remains committed to supporting young talent, enriching students’ imagination and showcasing outstanding performances on its theatres as part of the state’s vision to promote innovation among youth.
