Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatty received Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research Abdelaziz Konsowa on Tuesday to discuss ways of strengthening cooperation between the two ministries in areas related to higher education, scientific research, and international academic relations.

The talks focused on mechanisms to expand Egypt’s academic and scientific partnerships worldwide, supporting the state’s efforts to enhance the higher education and research system and increase the global presence of Egyptian institutions. Abdelatty highlighted the role of Egyptian embassies, diplomatic missions, and cultural offices abroad in promoting academic cooperation, student and research exchanges, and showcasing the capabilities of Egyptian universities. He noted that such efforts help attract more international students and reinforce Egypt’s position as a regional hub for higher education.

The ministers also discussed supporting Egyptian students and researchers abroad through coordination between embassies, consulates, and cultural offices, ensuring they receive necessary assistance and that their expertise contributes to national development priorities. They reviewed opportunities to expand capacity-building programs in African countries, including scholarships and training initiatives, and to strengthen partnerships between Egyptian universities and African institutions.

At the conclusion of the meeting, both ministers stressed the importance of continued institutional coordination to align diplomacy with the goals of higher education and research. They agreed that this cooperation would help Egyptian universities engage more effectively with international academic institutions and enhance Egypt’s scientific and regional standing.
