Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatty held a phone call on Monday with Venezuelan Foreign Minister Iván Gil Pinto to discuss the aftermath of the two recent earthquakes that struck Venezuela.
Abdelatty conveyed Egypt’s heartfelt condolences to the government and people of Venezuela, expressing sympathy to the families of the victims and wishing a speedy recovery for the injured. He affirmed Egypt’s full solidarity with Venezuela during this difficult humanitarian situation and its readiness to provide all forms of support and assistance to help ease the impact of the disaster.
For his part, Minister Gil Pinto expressed deep appreciation for Egypt’s solidarity, noting that the statement issued by the Egyptian Foreign Ministry after the earthquakes reflected Cairo’s supportive stance. He briefed Abdelatty on the scale of human and material losses and outlined the efforts being made by Venezuelan authorities to contain the consequences and deliver relief to affected areas.
