SEATTLE (United States) — Egypt head coach Hossam Hassan said his team is fully prepared for its decisive Group G clash against Iran at the FIFA World Cup, stressing that the Pharaohs will be playing for victory alone.

Egypt will take on Iran at Lumen Field at 6:00 a.m. Cairo Local Time on Saturday in the third and final Group G match of the World Cup, co-hosted by the United States, Canada and Mexico through July 19.

Speaking at the pre-match press conference, Hassan described Iran as a formidable opponent, noting that it is ranked 21st in the FIFA world rankings. He said the Egyptian coaching staff and players have great respect for the Asian side.

“We are focused solely on winning and are not thinking about any other qualification scenarios,” Hassan said.

“Every World Cup match is difficult, and every opponent is strong. Our only objective is to beat Iran and secure a place in the next round.”

The Egypt coach expressed confidence in all the players in his World Cup squad and voiced hope they would deliver their best performance against Iran.

Hassan reiterated that there are no guaranteed starters or substitutes in the national team, saying experience is the only factor that sets players apart. He added that discipline and commitment throughout the World Cup training camp have been key to Egypt’s impressive campaign.

He also praised captain Mohamed Salah, describing him as an intelligent and exceptional player with a vital role in the squad.

However, Hassan stressed that Egypt’s success is built on teamwork rather than individual brilliance.

“The players’ determination and our thorough preparation for every match have been the driving force behind our positive results at the World Cup so far,” he said. “We are always striving to present Egyptian football in the best possible light.”

Hassan concluded by thanking Egyptian fans for their unwavering support, pledging that the team would continue to give its all.

“We will never let you down, and we will spare no effort in any match,” he said.

Egypt tops Group G with four points after opening its campaign with a 1-1 draw against Belgium before defeating New Zealand 3-1 in its second match.
