Egypt’s Minister of Industry, Khaled Hashem, held talks with a delegation from Samsung Electronics led by Chairman Won Kim Kim to review the company’s current projects and future expansion plans. The meeting was attended by senior ministry officials, including Mohamed Sami, Assistant Minister for Strategic Affairs.
Discussions highlighted Samsung’s success since establishing operations in Egypt in 2013, with continuous growth to meet local market needs and expand exports. The company has also adopted clean energy solutions, currently relying on solar power for 25% of its energy needs, with plans to increase this share in line with Egypt’s green transition goals.
Minister Hashem stressed the ministry’s commitment to supporting Samsung’s production activities and making it a success story that attracts other global companies to invest in Egypt. He emphasized that electronics and technology industries are among the priority sectors in Egypt’s Industry Strategy 2030, aiming to position Egypt as a regional hub for manufacturing and exports.
The minister also called on Samsung to increase the share of local components in its products and benefit from the Supplier Development Program run by the Industrial Modernization Center to deepen local manufacturing and strengthen supply chains.
Chairman Won Kim Kim expressed appreciation for the ministry’s support, noting the importance of the minister’s visit to Samsung’s factory in Beni Suef and subsequent meetings. He reaffirmed the company’s commitment to sustainability, expanding local manufacturing, and enhancing the skills of Egyptian workers in technology industries.
