Egyptian Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatty met with Iraqi Foreign Minister Fuad Hussein on Monday on the sidelines of the Arab League Council’s 165th session in Amman.
The meeting discussed ways to strengthen bilateral relations and reviewed regional developments. Abdelatty highlighted the strong ties between Egypt and Iraq and stressed Cairo’s commitment to expanding cooperation in various fields. He also pointed to the trilateral mechanism with Jordan and Iraq as a model for regional integration.
The Egyptian minister reaffirmed support for Iraq’s unity, sovereignty, and territorial integrity, rejecting foreign interference. He emphasized that Iraq’s stability is vital for Arab national security.
Both ministers exchanged views on recent regional issues, including U.S.–Iran negotiations, with Abdelatty stressing the importance of building on progress to reduce tensions and promote regional stability.
