Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Abdel Aziz Qansowa, affirmed that digital transformation represents a fundamental pillar in the development of Egypt’s higher education and scientific research system.
He also stressed the importance of expanding co-operation with leading global technology companies to accelerate innovation and prepare graduates for the jobs of the future.
The minister remarks came during a meeting he held on Monday with senior executives from Microsoft Egypt to discuss strengthening co-operation in digital transformation and artificial intelligence.
During the meeting, Minister Qansowa highly appreciated the strategic partnership between his ministry and Microsoft, highlighting the ministry’s commitment to benefiting from international expertise in digital innovation and advanced technologies.
He noted that digital transformation forms a key component of the state’s vision to build an integrated digital society and modernise educational and government services in line with rapid technological developments.
The minister emphasised the importance of expanding the use of digital solutions to support educational, research and administrative processes across higher education institutions, enhancing service quality for students, academics and researchers, while increasing the ability of universities and research centres to respond to future challenges.
The meeting reviewed the shared vision between the ministry and Microsoft for creating a new AI-powered learning experience that links academic education with future skills and employment opportunities, while supporting digital transformation and the integration of artificial intelligence applications within higher education institutions.
Discussions also addressed the impact of artificial intelligence on education, skills development and future labour market requirements, as well as the importance of strengthening scientific research and enhancing its connection with industry to maximise its economic and social impact and support a knowledge-based, innovation-driven economy.
