The Foreign Ministers of Egypt, Bader Abdel-Aati, Pakistan,Mohammad Ishaq Dar, Saudi Arabia, Prince Faisal bin Farhan Al Saud, and Türkiye, Hakan Fidan, welcomed on Sunday the recent agreement between the United States and Iran, and reaffirmed support for Palestinian statehood.
Meeting at Egypt’s invitation, the ministers said the June 18 Islamabad Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed by Washington and Tehran marked an important step toward easing regional tensions and reducing risks to security, energy markets, maritime routes and global trade.
In a joint statement issued after the Cairo meeting, the four chief diplomats hailed efforts by regional and international parties that helped facilitate the agreement, calling for the full implementation of commitments undertaken by both sides.
They also commended Pakistan for its role in helping secure the understanding and praised Qatar for supporting negotiations that led to the deal.
The four ministers stressed the importance of moving quickly to a new phase of talks aimed at reaching a lasting and verifiable settlement of remaining issues, while taking into account the security concerns of countries in the Gulf and the wider Middle East.
Referring to the Palestinian cause, the ministers described it as central to achieving lasting peace and stability in the region.
They also discussed the humanitarian and political situation in Gaza, the occupied West Bank and East Jerusalem, reiteratedingsupport for the Palestinian people’s right to self-determination.
The Egyptian, Saudi, Pakistani and Turkish top diplomats reiterated backing for establishing an independent Palestinian state on the pre-1967 borders with East Jerusalem as a capital, in line with relevant United Nations Security Council resolutions.
The four nations pledged to continue consultations and coordination on regional issues to promote peace, security and stability across the Middle East.
