Iran’s Strait of Hormuz body will waive proposed transit fees for the Strait of Hormuz during a 60-day negotiation, following a memorandum of understanding signed with the United States last week.
Under the interim agreement, vessels planning to cross the strategic waterway must submit transit requests at least 48 hours before arrival, according to a notice by the Persian Gulf Strait Authority (PGSA).
While fees for safety, security, environmental services, and related insurance are suspended for the next two months, shipping lines must still coordinate routes and schedules in advance.
The PGSA noted this coordination is mandatory to ensure safe navigation and steer ships clear of areas affected by mines.
