Finance Minister Ahmed Kouchouk announced on Monday the launch of Egypt’s first mobile application for real estate tax services, aiming to simplify procedures and expand digital payment options for citizens.
The new app allows users to submit property tax declarations electronically, make advance payments, settle outstanding debts, and apply for exemptions on primary family homes.
The minister said that, for the first time, property owners with more than one unit will be able to submit a single tax declaration, while electronic payment receipts will now be officially accepted.
He added that the reform is part of a broader plan to make real estate tax services more accessible, reduce paperwork, and ease the financial burden on taxpayers.
Under the new system, primary residences valued at under LE8 million will be exempt from tax, up from the previous threshold of LE2 million.
Kouchouk also noted that exemption requests for family homes can now be completed online without visiting tax offices. Late payment penalties will be waived for those who pay their original dues by October 2, while settlements in disputes will be allowed upon payment of 70% of the tax by the same deadline.
Additional incentives include discounts of up to 25% for timely filing and 10% for non-residential units, with further reductions reaching 30% for advance payments depending on the property type.
