Egypt’s Minister of Tourism and Antiquities, Sherif Fathy, and Bulgarian Minister of Tourism, Ilin Dimitrov, have discussed means of consolidating co-operation between the two countries.
The two ministers met on the sidelines of the 126th session of the Executive Council of the United Nations World Tourism Organisation (UNWTO), Toledo, Spain.
The talks focused on boosting tourism flows through enhanced air connectivity and encouraging airlines to increase flights between Egypt and Bulgaria.
The ministers also discussed promoting professional exchanges between tourism sector representatives, organising joint promotional roadshows, and implementing shared training programs to build capacity in tourism and hospitality.
Discussions extended to co-operation in museum management, archaeological excavations, and restoration, with Egypt offering expertise in these fields.
They two ministers also explored opportunities for public-private partnerships to deliver tourism services at heritage sites and museums, following successful models at the Grand Egyptian Museum and the National Museum of Egyptian Civilisation.
Minister Fathy highlighted Egypt’s facilitation measures for travel and tourist visa procedures, aimed at improving visitor experiences and increasing arrivals.
