Egyptian Foreign Minister Badr Abdel‑Aati held a telephone conversation with French Foreign Minister Jean‑Noël Barrot on Thursday, focusing on strengthening bilateral ties and reviewing regional developments.
Both ministers praised the depth of Egyptian‑French relations, particularly after elevating them to the level of a strategic partnership. They expressed their commitment to expanding cooperation across economic and trade sectors, highlighting the close ties between the leadership of both nations. The ministers also welcomed French President Emmanuel Macron’s recent visit to Egypt, which included the inauguration of Senghor University in Borg El Arab, underscoring the diversity of the partnership.
On regional issues, Abdel‑Aati briefed his French counterpart on Egypt’s ongoing efforts to contain escalation and prioritize diplomatic solutions. He reiterated Egypt’s support for the U.S.–Iran negotiation track as a means to reduce tensions and promote political settlements.
The two ministers also exchanged views on the situation in Gaza. Abdel‑Aati stressed the importance of completing the first phase of the U.S. President’s plan and moving swiftly to the second phase, including the activation of the National Committee for Gaza’s administration and the rapid deployment of the international stabilization force.
Both sides agreed to continue close coordination and consultation within the framework of their strategic partnership, reaffirming their shared commitment to de‑escalation and regional stability.
