Egypt’s Foreign Minister Badr Abdel-Aati has highlighted Egypt’s interest in expanding co-operation with the Export-Import Bank of Korea (KEXIM) and broadening areas of partnership in the coming period.
He said closer co-operation would support the goals of Egypt Vision 2030 and help maximize the benefits of the KEXIM ’s technical and financial expertise, particularly in private-sector development and capacity building.
He made these remarks during his meeting on Monday with Executive Director and Head of Operations at the Economic Development Co-operation Fund (EDCF) of the KEXIM, Seo Jeong-hwa, during his visit to South Korea.
The minister highlighted recent improvements in Egypt’s investment and business environment.
He said the reforms have created promising opportunities for Korean companies and institutions.
He also stressed that Egypt’s strategic location and modern infrastructure position it as a regional hub for manufacturing and exports.
Abdel-Aati called for increasing the KEXIM’s investment portfolio in Egypt.
The chief diplomat pointed to the government incentives for investors, particularly in priority sectors such as digital transformation, artificial intelligence, and industrial localization. He said these sectors are key to attracting foreign investment and supporting sustainable economic growth.
For his part, Seo lauded the economic and structural reforms implemented by the Egyptian government.
These measures had strengthened financial and monetary stability, improved the investment climate, and supported economic empowerment and social protection efforts, he said
Seo also noted that the Egyptian economy has shown resilience despite regional tensions and global economic challenges.
He attributed this performance to ongoing structural reforms and policies aimed at promoting stability and growth.
The two sides agreed on the importance of maintaining close coordination to further expand economic and development cooperation.
They also stressed the need to build on the achievements of the comprehensive partnership between Egypt and South Korea in support of their shared development goals.
