Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources Eng. Karim Badawi has reviewed plans aimed at enhancing Egypt’s standing in global mining investment indicators, amid ongoing positive developments and reforms within the country’s mining sector.
The review took place during a meeting on Tuesday with a group of young professionals from the Egyptian Mineral Resources and Mining Industries Authority (MRMIA), who were selected to participate in an advanced training programme at Australia’s Murdoch University, one of the world’s leading academic institutions specialising in mining sciences.
During the meeting, Badawi stressed that Egypt’s mining sector has undergone unprecedented legislative and regulatory reforms in recent years, reflecting the government’s broader strategy to modernise the industry and create a more competitive and investment-friendly environment.
The minister called on young mining leaders to strengthen communication and engagement with both Egyptian and international companies in order to support efforts aimed at improving Egypt’s ranking in global mining investment indicators.
He also emphasised that empowering young professionals within the Mineral Resources Authority has become more achievable than ever before through greater participation in major mining projects and strategic sector initiatives.
Badawi further listened to proposals and recommendations presented by the young participants, who underscored the importance of continuing efforts to modernise the mining sector, enhance the investment climate, and adopt the latest technologies and international best practices to boost Egypt’s competitiveness and reinforce its position on the global mining map.
