Egypt’s Minister of Investment and Foreign Trade, Mohamed Farid Saleh, held an extensive meeting with Angelina Eichhorst, Ambassador of the European Union in Cairo, to explore ways of advancing the economic, trade, and investment partnership between Egypt and the EU amid global economic shifts, supply chain challenges, and the green transition.
The discussions focused on boosting trade and investment flows, expanding Egyptian exports to European markets, and improving the business climate to achieve sustainable mutual benefits. Both sides reviewed progress on the Sustainable Investment Facilitation Agreement (SIFA) and examined the need for a modern, unified framework to encourage investment, replacing outdated bilateral arrangements and ensuring long-term stability.
Minister Farid emphasized Egypt’s commitment to balanced and sustainable trade relations, structural reforms to enhance the investment environment, and advancing the green economy. He highlighted the importance of leveraging modern technologies and digital transformation, including AI, to improve investment data systems and transparency.
Ambassador Eichhorst underscored the EU’s strong interest in deepening economic cooperation with Egypt, particularly in renewable energy, green transition, industrial integration, and supply chains. She stressed that green energy and sustainability are central to future cooperation, noting wide opportunities for joint projects that support sustainable development goals.
The meeting concluded with agreement to maintain close coordination and dialogue at both technical and political levels, working together to modernize the economic partnership in line with global changes and to strengthen shared development objectives.
