Minister of Foreign Affairs, International Co-operation and Egyptian Expatriates Badr Abdel-Aati made a phone call on Friday with newly appointed Bulgarian Foreign Minister Velislava Petrova-Chamova, voicing Egypt’s aspiration to further boost bilateral relations across various fields.
Abdel-Aati congratulated his Bulgarian counterpart on assuming her new post, wishing her success in carrying out her duties.
The Egyptian foreign minister praised the noticeable progress witnessed in relations between the two countries over the recent period, stressing the importance of building on the momentum generated by the exchange of high-level visits to advance joint co-operation.
He also underlined the importance of convening the second session of the Egyptian-Bulgarian joint committee for bilateral co-operation in Sofia in the coming period to further institutionalize cooperation between the two sides.
On the economic front, Abdel-Aati highlighted the positive developments in bilateral co-operation, expressing Egypt’s keenness to continue joint efforts aiming at increasing trade exchange and boosting investments in a way that serves the mutual interests of both countries.
For her part, the new Bulgarian foreign minister affirmed her country’s commitment to strengthening co-operation with Egypt in various sectors, while maintaining coordination and consultation on issues of mutual interest.
