President Abdel Fattah El Sisi participated on Thurdsday in the Labour Day celebration held at the headquarters of the Egyptian National Railway Industries Company (NERIC) in the Suez Canal Economic Zone, east of Port Said.
Upon arrival, the president was received by a number of senior state officials, including Prime Minister Moustafa Madbouli, the ministers of defence and transport, senior parliamentary figures, and representatives of the Suez Canal Economic Zone, NERIC, and the General Federation of Egyptian Trade Unions.
According Presidency Spokesman Ambassador Mohamed el-Shennawy, the celebration commenced with a recitation from the Holy Quran, followed by a speech delivered by the President of the General Federation of Egyptian Trade Unions, who marked the occasion and presented a commemorative Labour Day shield to the President.
A documentary film entitled “Makers of the Present and Builders of the Future,” highlighting the Ministry of Labour’s key activities and the significance of the annual celebration, was subsequently screened.
The programme also featured a speech by the minister of labour, said the spokesman. During the event, President Sisi inaugurated four development projects via video conference, including the Zagazig Electricity Substation in Sharqia Governorate, the Rashid (2) Pumping Station in Giza Governorate, Boulaq El-Dakrour General Hospital in Giza Governorate, and Toukh Central Hospital in Qalyubia Governorate.
A documentary presentation on the NERIC factory was also delivered, followed by remarks from the Minister of Transport.
The spokesperson added that the president honoured a number of exemplary workers from various sectors, awarding them medals and decorations in recognition of their dedication and outstanding contributions.
The celebration concluded with a keynote address delivered by the President on the occasion of Labour Day.
