The Armed Forces issued an official warning on Monday over a newly identified fraud scheme targeting young citizens who are approaching mandatory military service, and confirmed the arrest of an individual involved in the case.

The Military Investigations Branch had received credible information about a suspect who falsely claimed to hold the rank of captain within the Recruitment and Mobilisation Department, said Armed Forces  Spokesman Staff Brigadier General Gharib Abdel Hafez.

The individual allegedly used a fabricated identity to deceive citizens, offering to expedite official recruitment procedures in exchange for financial payments.

The suspect has since been arrested, and necessary legal measures currently have been taken by the competent authorities.

The Armed Forces have reaffirmed commitment to protecting citizens against fraudulent activity and urged the public to exercise caution when dealing with individuals claiming affiliation with military or government institutions.

Citizens are strongly encouraged to verify information through official channels and to report any suspicious activity without delay, the spokesman stressed.

To facilitate communication and reporting, the Armed Forces have provided dedicated contact lines for enquiries and complaints, including the Military Police Department – 02/22623821 and 02/24010715- and the Recruitment and Mobilisation Department – 15499, 02/26351195, and 02/26339581.

Reports may also be submitted via the official website: tagned.mod.gov.eg.

Vigilance remains essential, warning that even a single deceptive message can result in financial loss, the Armed Forces have stressed.
