President Abdel Fattah El Sisi held a phone call on Monday with Kenyan President William Ruto, during which the two leaders discussed ways to further boost relations and reviewed key regional developments.

According to Presidential Spokesman Mohamed El-Shennawy, President Sisi praised the progress achieved in relations between the two countries. He also stressed the need to expand co-operation, particularly in economic, trade and investment links, noting that deeper collaboration would support development goals in both nations.

For his part, President Ruto welcomed Egypt’s efforts to enhance ties and expressed Kenya’s interest in further advancing co-operation, El-Shennawy said. He also invited President Sisi to visit Kenya.

The call also addressed several regional issues, including Sudan, with President Sisi reaffirming Egypt’s position by calling for an end to the conflict, respect for Sudan’s sovereignty, and support for its national institutions. He highlighted Egypt’s ongoing efforts to help restore stability in the country.

President Ruto commended Egypt’s role in supporting Sudan and tackling regional challenges. The two leaders also discussed developments in the Horn of Africa, agreeing to enhance coordination and political consultation to support peace and stability in the region.

The issue of Nile waters was also raised, with President Sisi stressing its critical importance to Egypt. President Ruto affirmed Kenya’s commitment to reaching consensus among Nile Basin countries on the matter.

Both presidents reaffirmed their commitment to maintaining close communication and strengthening joint coordination in the period ahead.
