How do you assess the evolution of the IT management market in Egypt over the past few years?
Egypt’s ICT sector is one of the fastest growing sectors over the past few years with the nation doubling down on IT initiatives via through their Vision 2030 goals. The IT management market has shown a lot of promise as seen through Egypt’s rapid adoption of IT across key sectors. IT investments through cloud adoption has seen a huge spike in recent times that suggest that Egypt is shifting from basic IT support to strategic and cloud-driven IT setups that will help drive their business operations. The investment into newer tech such as AI and expansion of AI capabilities combined with an increased focus towards enhancing their cybersecurity posture showcases a trend towards expanding on IT management investments in the future.
How do you evaluate ManageEngine’s performance in the Egyptian market recently?
ManageEngine has been present in Egypt for over 20 years, having started our operations back in 2006. Egypt is currently one of our top 5 markets in the MENA region and we see around 30% year-on-year growth for our operations here. Recent market trends suggest more strategic investments into IT as organizations scale up in their operations, they realize the essential need for visibility, control and for securing their business to ensure continued operational longevity. With Egypt’s motive towards Vision 2030, we see it as an opportunity to be a part of Egypt’s digitalization journey and we are happy to cater to the needs of our Egyptian customers across different IT niches and customizing our expertise for their unique business needs.

ManageEngine’s operations in Egypt are deemed to be essential for our operations in both Middle East and Africa. Adding to the importance of being one of our top 5 markets in the MENA region, Egypt is also an important hub for talent and IT. We see an important future in Egypt as we involve ourselves in aiding the nation’s Vision 2030 and IT goals, similar to the way we have continued to support the region over the past 2 decades. Looking ahead, Egypt is at different maturity points when it comes to management IT and we see rapid adoption and expansion of IT operations across key sectors in the region showcasing Egypt’s commitment towards a sustainable and secure IT environment for all organizations.
What are your growth priorities in Egypt, and are there plans to expand your local presence or investments?
ManageEngine’s growth priorities always revolve around meeting the needs and demands of our customers. We follow a “customer-centric” approach and that has been key to our success over the past 2 decades. Our growth priorities looking ahead would be to address the key IT challenges across critical sectors in Egypt. Our operations have always revolved around organizations of any size, starting from SMBs to enterprise level where we have been able to scale up to their specific needs as and when required. We have already established a legal entity in Egypt and we will eventually be adding on to our expertise in the region moving forward.

What are the most pressing technical challenges Egyptian organizations face today in managing their digital infrastructure?
The Egyptian market is currently going through the shift from traditional IT setups to establishing cloud, mutli-cloud and hybrid environment setups. This transition for organizations is usually faced by legacy challenges wherein most organizations persist on on-prem models. Integration with modern cloud platforms will not be an easy fix. Also, with this transition towards cloud setups, organizations faces the hurdle of local regulations, requirement for enhanced cybersecurity due to the expanding attack surfaces as well as to bridge the skill gap that arises with adoption of newer models. These hurdles are part of a digitally transforming economy and Egypt is currently going through this phase and are dealing with it accordingly.
With the rise in cyber threats, what are the key risks currently facing organizations in Egypt?
Egypt in its evolving stage towards adopting a multi-cloud and hybrid IT environments will be wary of their increasing attack surfaces for cybercriminals to attack. Also, the issue of AI-powered cyberattacks will also look to extract any weakness or vulnerabilities of current organizations in the way of endpoint vulnerabilities, irregular patching of systems and social engineered cyberattacks. Some of the key cyber threats in the region are in the way of phishing attacks, ransomware threats and cloud security gaps. Enhancing on current cybersecurity posture will be essential in tackling the rising cyber threats in the region in order to overcome any weakness via an incomplete security infrastructure. Organizations should ensure that they have complete visibility and control of operations in order to tend to any incoming cyber threats by also improving on their incident detection and response mechanisms in order to tackle cyber incidents effectively.
How can small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in Egypt build a strong cybersecurity framework with limited resources?
ManageEngine has always worked for the benefit of SMEs across regions. Limited resources might be a barrier, however, investing in your cybersecurity and maintaining an effective security system will be the differentiator for business continuity and downtime caused by cyber-attacks. We advice SMEs to focus on the basic cybersecurity practices as a good start towards maintaining cybersecurity – leveraging identity and access controls via MFA (multi-factor authentication), use of strong passwords and regular data backups to ensure data is secured.
