Egypt’s Prime Minister Moustafa Madbouli has reaffirmed the government’s continued commitment to securing energy requirements for national and investment projects from diversified sources, ensuring operational sustainability and optimal utilisation of available production capacities.

Madbouli remarks came as he chaired a meeting of the Supreme Energy Council on Wednesday, attended by senior state and government officials, said the Cabinet Spokesman Ambassador Mohamed el-Homosani.

He added that the attendees reviewed the latest developments in the supply of electricity, petroleum products, and natural gas.

He further noted that coordination is going on between the relevant ministries and authorities to guarantee uninterrupted energy provision to productive and service sectors, particularly in light of prevailing regional and international challenges.

Homosani added that the meeting placed strong emphasis on prioritising the energy needs of industrial and investment projects, given their central role in supporting production and driving economic growth.

He highlighted the importance of continued engagement with investors to address any challenges they may face in this regard.

He further explained that the Supreme Energy Council discussed the provision of energy to a range of projects across various industrial and vital sectors, in line with the national energy strategy and its overarching plan for production and consumption.

This, he illustrated, aligns with sustainable development objectives and broader economic and social development plans, while also supporting industrial growth, technology transfer, and the localisation of modern industries.

The meeting also underscored that ensuring adequate energy supply to the productive sector forms part of the state’s efforts to attract investment, strengthen industrial localisation, increase exports of high-quality products, meet domestic market needs, and generate direct and indirect employment opportunities, alongside enhancing human capital through training and skills development.

In addition, the council reaffirmed its commitment to maximising returns from energy production by increasing reliance on renewable energy sources, enhancing their economic value, and reducing dependence on fossil fuels, in line with Egypt’s national energy mix strategy and sustainable development agenda.
