Egyptian Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouli chaired a high-level meeting on Monday to assess the nation’s commodity reserves and strengthen governance of the subsidy system targeting vulnerable citizens. The session was attended by Finance Minister Ahmed Kouchouk, Supply Minister Sherif Farouk, senior military and police officials, and representatives from relevant ministries.
Madbouli emphasized the importance of continuous monitoring and coordination among agencies to safeguard essential supplies, particularly in light of regional instability and global supply chain disruptions. He noted that preemptive government measures had secured a reassuring stockpile of key goods sufficient for several months.
The Prime Minister highlighted that unprecedented international crises have compelled nations worldwide to rationalize spending. In response, Egypt is intensifying governance measures to ensure subsidies reach the intended social groups, reinforcing the country’s social protection goals.
Supply Minister Farouk reported that essential goods remain available in adequate quantities and at fair prices, thanks to coordinated efforts across agencies. He stressed ongoing market oversight to stabilize prices and prevent manipulation, in line with directives from President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi.
Cabinet spokesperson Mohamed El-Hommosany confirmed that the meeting reviewed subsidy governance strategies to maximize resource efficiency and guarantee support for those most in need.
