King Louis Philippe of Belgium received President Abdel Fattah El Sisi at the Royal Palace of Brussels, on Wednesday.
Sisi is in Belgium to take part in the 6th EU-AU Summit that kicks off in Brussels today for two days.
King Philippe welcomed President Sisi on his first visit to Belgium, lauding the extended historical ties between the two friendly countries at the official and popular levels, Presidency Spokesman Ambassador Bassam Radi said.
The Belgian Monarch also reiterated his country’s keenness to promote these relations in all fields, especially in light of the remarkable development boom in Egypt.
In addition, King Philippe praised Egypt’s pivotal role in enhancing stability in the Middle East region and Africa, especially its efforts to combat illegal migration and terrorism, as well as achieving inter-faith coexistence and supporting peaceful solutions for regional crises, Radi added.
For his part, President Sisi expressed appreciation for the warm welcome he received in Belgium, commending the well-established and extended friendship between the two countries, and the high level they reached over the past period, Spokesman Radi said.
Sisi also expressed Egypt’s aspirations to deepen these ties, especially at the economic and trade levels through boosting Belgian investments in Egypt.
