Egypt’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, International Co-operation and Egyptian Expatriates, Badr Abdel-Aati, met in Washington with Chairman of the House Subcommittee on National Security and the Department of State Mario Diaz-Balart, Chairman of the House Appropriations Committee Tom Cole, and Chairman of the Defence Appropriations Subcommittee Ken Calvert to discuss strengthening the strategic partnership between Egypt and the United States.

The meeting also addressed avenues for expanding bilateral cooperation in various sectors, particularly political and economic.

Minister Abdel-Aati emphasized the importance of maintaining close coordination with the US Congress to advance mutual interests and foster the growth of Egypt-US relations.

During the discussions, Abdel-Aati highlighted Egypt’s pivotal role in promoting security and stability in the Middle East, stressing the country’s ongoing efforts to de-escalate current tensions and facilitate diplomatic solutions.

The meeting also covered a range of regional issues of shared concern, including developments in the Palestinian cause and the situations in Lebanon and Sudan.
