Under directives from President Abdel Fattah El Sisi, Minister of Foreign Affairs, International Co-operation and Egyptian Expatriates Badr Abdel-Aati and Minister of Industry Khaled Hashem met with President of the Republic of Tatarstan of the Russian Federation Rustam Minnikhanov, during his official visit to Egypt.

Minister Abdel-Aati praised the growing momentum in strategic relations between Egypt and Russia across various sectors, including cooperation with Tatarstan.

He highlighted Tatarstan’s development progress, particularly in the industrial, technological, and agricultural fields, affirming Egypt’s commitment to strengthening economic ties with both Russia and Tatarstan.

During the meeting, the two ministers stressed the importance of expanding cooperation with companies from Tatarstan, increasing training programmes, transferring technology, and building capacities in a way that supports the localisation of these industries in Egypt.

They also underscored the need to attract investments in key sectors, including logistics, agriculture, oil and gas, and petrochemicals.

Both ministers highlighted the importance of advancing mechanisms of agricultural cooperation, including boosting Egyptian agricultural exports to Tatarstan and enhancing collaboration in agricultural engineering and mechanization, particularly in light of Egypt’s plans to establish a regional logistics hub for grains and energy.

Minister Abdel-Aati said Egypt looks forward to increasing charter flights between Kazan and Egyptian tourist destinations, aiming to boost inbound Russian tourism from Tatarstan.

For his part, Minnikhanov praised the notable progress Egypt has achieved under the leadership of President Sisi, commending the country’s constructive role in supporting regional security and stability.
