Egypt’s Agriculture Minister el-Sayed el-Quseir has hailed as “historical” and “deep” relations between Egypt and Sudan.
Bilateral ties have greatly progressed under President Abdel Fattah El Sisi, Quseir said in a meeting with visiting Sudanese Finance Minister Jibril Ibrahim Tuesday.
He touched upon presidential directives to offer all kind of support for the Sudanese people.
Today’s meeting took up means of boosting co-operation between the two Arab countries in the fields of training, skill building and agricultural investments.
The two ministers also discussed work on joint farms, rural development, digital transformation and the use of natural resources in a way that would better serve interests of both sides.
Quseir posted Ibrahim on huge agricultural projects in Egypt, voicing willingness to share expertise with Sudan.
He also reviewed Egypt’s experiment in agricultural lending and financing, especially with young farmers and breeders. The agriculture minister also talked about support for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) with loans of soft interest rates.
Quseir also underscored funds for projects to upgrade irrigation through a 10-year loan with zero interest.
Jibril, for his part, said he is looking forward to benefiting from Egypt’s know-how, particularly in the field of fish and animal wealth.
He invited Quseir to visit Sudan to continue discussions and to take practical steps toward actually implementing agreements on the ground.
