Egypt’s Education Minister Mohamed Abdel Latif met with a delegation from Germany’s KfW Development Bank, led by Director Christoph Schiffer, to explore ways of strengthening cooperation in technical education and expanding applied technology schools.
Latif emphasized the ministry’s commitment to building international partnerships to benefit from global expertise in modernizing technical education. He noted that applied technology schools are designed to link learning with labor market needs and provide advanced practical training for students.
The minister highlighted ongoing efforts to secure internationally accredited certificates for technical students, raising graduate qualifications to global standards. He also pointed to successful cooperation with Italy, which has led to the launch of 100 applied technology schools across diverse specializations in partnership with industry.
Schiffer praised Egypt’s progress in technical education and reaffirmed KfW’s interest in supporting projects that improve infrastructure, provide modern equipment, and build teacher capacity. He stressed the bank’s commitment to expanding cooperation, particularly in applied technology schools and vocational training programs, to prepare skilled graduates able to compete in the labor market.
Discussions also covered opportunities for Egyptian students to obtain German-accredited certificates, enhancing their employability internationally. Both sides agreed to deepen collaboration in technical education, training, and green transformation initiatives.
