Egypt’s Foreign Minister Badr Abdel-Aati and a delegation from the American Chamber of Commerce(AmCham) in Cairo have discussed means to further boost economic and investment ties between Egypt and the US.
The delegation was led by AmCham Cairo Chairman Omar Mehanna.
The meeting was part of preparations for the chamber’s upcoming “door-knocking” mission to Washington aimed at promoting economic partnership between the two countries, Foreign ministry Spokesman Tamim Khallaf said.
Minister Abdel-Aati stressed Egypt’s commitment to enhancing economic, trade and investment cooperation with the United States, praising the chamber’s role in supporting bilateral economic relations.
He also highlighted Egypt’s interest in expanding economic cooperation with Washington and pointed to the first Egypt-US Economic Forum held in Cairo in May 2025, which brought together major American companies and strengthened private sector cooperation.
Egypt is looking forward to holding the second edition of the forum later this year to deepen business partnerships and open new investment opportunities, he said.
The minister also reviewed recent structural reforms aimed at improving the investment climate and business environment, stressing that attracting foreign direct investment remains a top government priority.
He said Egypt’s developed infrastructure and extensive network of free trade agreements position the country as a regional hub for access to African, Middle Eastern and European markets, adding that future cooperation would focus on industry, logistics, energy, digital infrastructure, pharmaceuticals, healthcare systems and tourism.
Abdel-Aati said the Egyptian economy remained resilient in the face of regional and global crises and that the government was continuing comprehensive reforms to ensure economic stability and provide a secure environment for foreign investors.
The meeting included an interactive discussion with business leaders, with Abdel-Aati saying the foreign ministry was committed to maintaining direct communication with the business community to remove obstacles and support economic partnerships, the statement said.
