Egyptian Transport Minister Kamel Wazir inspected final preparations and pilot operation of the light rail transit (LRT) in the New Administrative Capital.
He underlined the importance of the project which represents the first electric train in Egypt and one of the factors of green transportation network being established under directives of the political leadership.
He inspected all stations of the first stage and got into one of the trains which is being piloted.
He also inspected LRT workshop which is established on 80 feddans and consists of 26 buildings.
He noted that Egypt has so far received 12 trains – each consisting of six carriages – and the remaining 10 will arrive soon.
He added that the total cost of the trains stood at dlrs 227 million. (MENA)
