CAIRO — Egypt’s national judo team delivered a standout performance at the African Judo Open Championship in Dakar, held from March 25–28, with 15 nations showed up to compete.
Ali El-Ramly set the tone right away, storming through the 81kg category to clinch gold. Dalida El-Gharabawy snatched another gold in the +63kg class with real authority. And then there was Yasmine Abdel-Aal, who fought hard and earned a well-earned silver in the +70kg division.

This impressive haul highlights the team’s rising standards on the continental stage.
Egypt achieved this success with a squad of just three athletes—El-Ramly competing in the 81kg category, El-Gharabawy in +63kg, and Abdel-Aal in +70kg.
Mohamed Motei, President of the Egyptian Judo Federation praised the team’s performance, noting it reflects the progress made by the athletes in recent months.

The African Judo Open is a key step for Egypt as they gear up for the 2026 Dakar Youth Olympic Games. Plus, every podium finish adds to their international ranking.
