The Cabinet’s Media Center said reports claiming Egypt was affected by potential radiation leaks linked to regional developments are false.
In a statement posted on its official social media platforms, the center said it contacted the Nuclear and Radiological Regulatory Authority (ENRRA). The ENRRA confirmed there are no indicators of any change or increase in radiation background levels inside Egypt.
The ENRRA said radiation levels are monitored around the clock. This is done through a nationwide radiation monitoring, early warning and reporting system. The network is deployed across the country and equipped with the latest detection technologies.
It added that nuclear facilities in the surrounding region are also being monitored. This follows ongoing developments and relies on reports issued by the International Atomic Energy Agency.
In this context, the ENRRA said it is in continuous coordination with relevant national bodies. It urged citizens to rely on official sources for accurate information on this matter.
