Minister of Education and Technical Education, Mohamed Abdel Latif, met on Tuesday with Sudanese Minister of Education Al-Tohami Al-Zain to discuss ways of reinforcing educational co-operation between Cairo and Khartoum.

Minister Abdel Latif highlighted the deep-rooted fraternal ties between the Egyptian and Sudanese peoples, emphasising historical bonds across multiple sectors, particularly education. He reaffirmed Egypt’s commitment to supporting Sudan in developing its educational system.

He stressed Egypt’s readiness to assist Sudan in areas including curriculum development, assessment and examination systems, technical education, and regularising the status of Sudanese guest schools in Egypt.

On technical education, he noted Egypt’s significant progress in upgrading curricula according to European standards to meet labour market needs and attract investment, notably through partnerships with the European Union.

Sudanese Minister Al-Zain said Sudan looks forward to expanding joint co-operation and benefiting from Egypt’s experience, including successful collaborations with Japan, in developing Sudan’s educational institutions. He also underscored Sudan’s commitment to implementing UNESCO’s transitional programmes to modernise its education system. He also expressed hope for joint efforts in curriculum development, teacher training, and educational infrastructure rehabilitation to enhance quality and sustainability.
