Egypt has significantly expanded the network of crossings linking Sinai with the Nile Valley over the past decade.
This move is part of the state’s ongoing efforts to reduce travel time between the two banks of the Suez Canal and to provide a range of transport alternatives through an integrated network of routes, the Cabinet said in a press release on its official Facebook page on Friday.
The number of crossings has increased from 10 in 2014 to 26 today, including eight ferry routes, six tunnels, and nine floating bridges, alongside major crossings such as the Peace Bridge, El Ferdan Bridge, and the East Port Said Container Terminal crossing.
The expansion underscores the government’s commitment to facilitating citizen mobility, strengthening connectivity between Sinai and the Suez Canal, and supporting development and economic activity across the region.
