Egypt’s Minister of Supply, Sherif Farouk, has ordered supply directorates nationwide to ramp up market monitoring and emergency preparedness during the Eid al-Fitr holiday. The directive aims to stabilise markets and ensure the continuous availability of essential goods.

Minister Farouk emphasised rigorous daily inspections of subsidised bakeries to confirm they are meeting quality standards, correct loaf weights, and official operating hours. Additionally, he ordered bakeries to return to their pre-Ramadan schedules to prevent overcrowding and ensure a seamless flow of service for citizens.

Farouk called for close monitoring of the subsidised flour system, ensuring mills operate efficiently and bakeries receive their full quotas to maintain uninterrupted bread production.

He also emphasised the importance of ensuring the availability and quality of both subsidised and non-subsidised goods, including Eid-related items, at fixed prices across outlets and consumer complexes.

Farouk further instructed officials to monitor fuel supplies, ensuring the availability of petroleum products at gas stations and butane cylinders at depots, with strict action against overpricing or monopolistic practices.

He ordered the activation of main and sub-operations rooms across directorates to operate around the clock, track supply services in real time, address violations immediately, and respond to citizens’ complaints.
