Global challenges and their impact on Egypt’s economy were at the core of talks held on Thursday between Minister of Planning and Economic Development Ahmed Rostom, and Mark Davis, Regional Director of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development.
During the meeting, Rostom said Egypt’s economy has shown resilience. He stressed that short-term reactions are not enough, and the government is working on long-term strategies, early warning tools, and flexible policies to keep markets stable. He also highlighted the importance of cooperation between state institutions and international partners to absorb shocks and maintain growth.
The minister noted plans to diversify the economy, support innovation, and strengthen the role of the private sector as a key partner in sustainable development.
For his part, Davis acknowledged the global uncertainty but urged continued reforms. He emphasized that development efforts should be part of wider institutional reform aligned with Egypt’s national strategies. He also called for efficient use of resources, stronger public-private partnerships, and better targeting of development finance to priority sectors.
