Egyptian Foreign Minister Badr Abdel-Aati met with Jordanian Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ayman Safadi in Amman on Monday. The meeting was part of Abdel-Aati’s regional tour to coordinate with Arab states on how to address the serious challenges facing the region.

The two ministers reaffirmed the deep, historic ties between Egypt and Jordan, stressing the importance of building on existing coordination mechanisms to serve shared interests. They reviewed the dangerous escalation in the region and discussed ways to reduce tensions, restore calm, and prevent the conflict from spreading. Both emphasized the need for diplomatic paths to strengthen regional security and stability, and for stronger Arab cooperation to face crises.

They condemned Iranian attacks on Jordan and Gulf states, calling them unjustified violations of international law and sovereignty. Abdel-Aati reiterated Egypt’s full solidarity with Jordan, while Safadi expressed appreciation for Egypt’s support.

The ministers also highlighted the humanitarian crisis in Gaza, stressing the need to stop illegal Israeli actions in the West Bank and to protect freedom of worship at Al-Aqsa Mosque. They warned of the dangers of continued restrictions. On Lebanon, they voiced support for the government’s efforts to strengthen state institutions and condemned Israeli attacks, urging an end to the aggression.

Both sides agreed to continue close cooperation, reinforcing their historic partnership and coordinating on regional developments to protect Arab interests and stability.
