Culture Minister Jehan Zaki toured on Thursday the Cairo Opera House to review facilities and services. The visit aimed to ensure readiness and improve the quality of services offered to the public.
She inspected the main, small, and open-air theaters, the Opera Museum, reception halls, art galleries, and administrative offices. Zaki directed immediate upgrades to facilities, including a new museum display scenario to highlight the opera’s history and rare collections.
The minister stressed urgent plans to upgrade the small and open-air theaters, alongside a comprehensive modernization of sound and visual systems. Work will proceed in parallel with the major renovation of the main theater, supported by Japan’s JICA.
Zaki underlined the need to preserve and modernize Egypt’s leading cultural institutions to match global standards in theater management. She said the Cairo Opera House remains a vital beacon of Egypt’s soft power and a cultural landmark reflecting the richness of Egyptian arts.
She called for teamwork across ministry sectors to implement the development plan to the highest standards, enhancing audience experience and honoring the opera’s legacy.
