Minister of Foreign Affairs, International Cooperation and Egyptian Expatriates Badr Abdel-Aati held a phone call on Thursday with his Saudi counterpart Faisal bin Farhan Al Saud as part of close coordination between the two countries regarding the rapidly evolving developments and the continued military escalation in the region.
Minister Abdel-Aati reiterated Egypt’s firm and strong support for Saudi Arabia and all brotherly Arab states, stressing Egypt’s full solidarity in the face of any challenges affecting the Kingdom’s security.
He also renewed Egypt’s strong condemnation of the attacks targeting the security and sovereignty of several brotherly countries, stressing that such attacks have no justification.
He underscored the need for full respect for the principles of good neighbourliness and state sovereignty.
The conversation also addressed efforts to evacuate Egyptian nationals. In this respect, Minister Abdel-Aati expressed Egypt’s deep appreciation for the support and efforts of the Saudi authorities, which helped ensure the success of the evacuation of Egyptian national under the current circumstances.
Abdel-Aati warned of the catastrophic consequences of the continued cycle of violence and the expansion of the conflict, noting that it threatens regional and international peace and security and poses major challenges to the stability of the entire region.
Both sides agreed on the importance of intensifying regional and international efforts to de-escalate tensions, prioritise political solutions, and resort to dialogue and diplomacy as the only means to prevent the region from sliding into broader confrontation and widespread chaos.
