Professor Suzuki Masaaki, First Vice President for Regional and International Affairs of Egypt-Japan University of Science and Technology, confirmed to The Egyptian Gazette that 3,674 students from the African countries applied for E-JUST scholarships through the university’s official website, where more than 450 students from 34 African countries completed the University requirements for the 50 Graduate Studies scholarships.

This came after the university announced the allocation of total 150 scholarships for graduate studies funded based on the cooperation between the governments of Egypt and Japan to prepare African cadres with experience in the fields of Science, Technology and Innovation (STI) to contribute to supporting development in Africa. According to the agreement 50 students are accepted annually for a period of 3 years, as announced at the Seventh Tokyo International Conference on African Development TICAD-7.

The university aims, from these grants, to serve students in Africa, as the grants include the latest specializations in modern sciences that contribute to supporting development projects in Africa. The majors include Electronics and Communications, Electrical Power Engineering, Computer Science Engineering, Mechatronics and Robotics, Industrial Engineering and Systems Management, Materials Science and Engineering, Energy Resources Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Chemical and Petrochemical Engineering, Nanoscience, Biotechnology, Mathematics, Materials Energy, and Space Environment.
