Egypt’s Foreign Minister Badr Abdel-Aati has warned that the ongoing military escalation in the region risks pushing its security towards a “dangerous turning point”.

He also stressed the urgent need to prioritize de-escalation efforts to prevent the conflict from widening.

Abdel-Aati made the during a telephone conversation late on Saturday with Saudi Arabia’s Foreign Minister, Faisal bin Farhan Al Saud, as part of continued consultations between Egypt and Saudi Arabia over rapidly unfolding regional developments.

During the call, the two ministers exchanged assessments on the widening scope of military confrontations across the region and the serious implications such developments could have for Arab national security.

Abdel-Aati highlighted the grave risks associated with the continuation of current military operations, cautioning that further escalation could place the region on a critical and potentially destabilising path. He stressed the importance of advancing diplomatic efforts and pursuing de-escalation to prevent the situation from sliding into a broader conflict.

Discussions also addressed the ongoing attacks targeting several Gulf and Arab states.

Abdel-Aati reaffirmed Egypt’s full solidarity with its Gulf partners and all Arab countries in confronting such assaults, underlining that the security of the Gulf is an integral component of Egypt’s own national security.

The Egyptian top diplomat reiterated Cairo’s firm and longstanding position rejecting any attempts to justify such attacks or to use them as a pretext to undermine the sovereignty of sisterly Arab states.
