Minister of Investment and Foreign Trade Mohamed Farid Saleh said there are various opportunities to enhance economic co-operation between Egypt and the Republic of Korea, particularly in fields related to investment, industry, start-ups and venture capital.
The remarks came during a meeting with the chargé d’affaires of the the Republic of Korea’s embassy in Cairo, where the two sides discussed ways to expand co-operation in trade, investment and industry.
Farid said the Egyptian government is working to turn proposed co-operation areas into practical investment opportunities and projects, while also seeking to boost bilateral trade and increase exports, especially in sectors aiming at deepening local manufacturing.
He added that both sides are also exploring co-operation in technology, innovation and trade promotion, as well as benefiting from the Republic of Korea’s experience in export development.
The minister revealed that Egypt and the Republic of Korea are moving toward launching negotiations this year on a comprehensive economic partnership agreement, which is expected to boost investment flows and bilateral trade.
For his part, the Korean diplomat underlined the need to strengthen economic co-operation with Egypt, noting that Korean companies are keen to expand their investments in the Egyptian market, particularly in industrial and technological sectors.
