Egypt’s Minister of Foreign Affairs,  International Cooperation and Egyptian Expatriates Badr Abdel-Aati received a phone call today from  Ireland’s Minister for Foreign Affairs, Trade and Defence Helen McEntee, to discuss the latest regional developments and the serious repercussions of ongoing military escalation on regional security and stability.

According to  the  Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Ambassador Tamim Khallaf, Abdel-Aati praised the level of bilateral relations between the two friendly countries and their shared commitment to continued coordination on regional and international issues.

Abdel-Aati provided an assessment of the rapidly evolving situation in the region, stressing the urgent need to intensify efforts to de-escalate tensions and prioritize political solutions.

He warned that continued military escalation would further aggravate the situation and risk widening the scope of conflict, underscoring the importance of coordinated regional and international action to contain the crisis.

Abdel-Aati also emphasized the need to respect state sovereignty and the principle of good neighbourliness, reiterating Egypt’s firm rejection of any actions that threaten the security, safety, or sovereignty of Arab states.

He called for restraint and a renewed focus on diplomacy during this critical period.

He further expressed appreciation for Ireland’s decision to maintain its travel advisory for Egypt unchanged, reflecting the country’s stability and security.

For her part, McEntee commended Egypt’s sustained efforts to support regional security and stability.

Both ministers  affirmed that diplomacy remains the only viable path to prevent further instability and the expansion of conflict.
