CAIRO – The Egyptian Handball Federation, led by Khaled Fathi, has received an official apology from the Czech Handball Federation after the Czech women’s youth (2006) and junior (2008) national teams confirmed their inability to travel to Cairo for the scheduled friendlies on March 7 and 8, citing the current situation in the Middle East.

The two matches were set to play a pivotal role in Egypt’s preparation roadmap, forming a key component of the technical staff’s strategy to build international exposure ahead of the U18 Women’s Handball World Championship, which will be held next summer in Romania.
The global tournament is set to kick off on July 29 and run through August 9, 2026.
The late cancellation represents more than the loss of two friendly fixtures – it disrupts a structured preparation plan designed to provide Egypt’s young talents with essential European-level competition.

Still, the federation isn’t letting this shake their plans. They’ve moved swiftly to keep the team’s training programme on track, making sure the players stay ready.
Discussions are already underway to secure alternative international friendlies against elite national sides or top club or organise tough training camps.
