Egypt’s Minister of Water Resources and Irrigation Hany Sewilam participated in the extraordinary meeting of the Nile Basin Council of Ministers (Nile-COM) that took place in Juba, South Sudan.

In a statement on Saturday, the Ministry of Water Resources and Irrigation said that Sewilam delivered an opening speech during the meeting, stressing the importance of cooperation among Nile Basin countries.

He commended the ongoing consultative process aimed at addressing the concerns of countries that have not yet joined the Cooperative Framework Agreement (CFA) for the Nile River Basin states, with the goal of restoring inclusivity at the basin-wide level.

Sewilam welcomed the progress report issued by the committee tasked with examining the concerns of non-signatory states to the framework agreement.

The minister further highlighted Egypt’s efforts to support development projects in several Nile Basin countries, reaffirming Cairo’s commitment to strengthening regional cooperation and sustainable water management across the basin.
