Ali Abdi Awari, Somali Ambassador in Cairo and Permanent Representative to the League of Arab States affirmed the great importance of the visit by Somali President Dr. Hassan Sheikh Mohamud to Egypt, during which he is meeting today with President Abdel Fattah El Sisi.
He noted that the visit carries significant political and strategic implications that reflect the depth of the fraternal and longstanding historical relations between the two brotherly countries, and embodies their shared commitment to strengthening frameworks of bilateral cooperation and ongoing coordination on regional and international issues of mutual concern.
In a statement today (Sunday), the Somali ambassador said that the meeting between the two presidents represents an important opportunity to advance the course of bilateral relations and expand areas of cooperation across various sectors, including security and stability, institutional capacity building, sustainable development, education, and health. He explained that Egypt plays a pivotal and highly appreciated role in supporting Somalia, stemming from the bonds of Arab and African brotherhood.
He praised the level of existing cooperation between Egypt and Somalia, as well as Egypt’s continued support for the efforts of the Somali government to achieve security and stability and rebuild state institutions, stressing that Somali-Egyptian relations constitute a model of constructive cooperation based on strategic partnership and a shared vision for a more stable and prosperous future for the region.
The Ambassador of the Federal Republic of Somalia concluded by emphasizing his country’s aspiration that this visit will contribute to strengthening the path of bilateral relations and consolidating the foundations of joint cooperation, in a manner that fulfills the aspirations and interests of the two brotherly peoples and supports security and stability in the Horn of Africa and the Arab world.
