The Egyptian National Handball Team has officially claimed the 2026 African Men’s Handball Championship title after a dominant 37-24 victory over Tunisia in the final held in Rwanda.
The Pharaohs controlled the match from the opening whistle, heading into halftime with a 17-10 lead before closing out the game with a 13-goal margin.

This victory marks a historic milestone for Egyptian sports, as the team has now secured its 10th continental title, equaling the long-standing record held by Tunisia.
This triumph also represents Egypt’s fourth consecutive African trophy, maintaining a remarkable undefeated streak on the continent that dates back to 2018.

Beyond the team trophy, Egypt dominated the individual awards for the tournament.
Yahia Khaled was named the tournament’s Most Valuable Player (MVP) and Best Right Back. Other honorees included Mohamed Ali (Best Goalkeeper), Ahmed Hesham Sisa (Best Left Wing), Ahmed Hesham Dodo (Best Left Back), and Mohamed Emad “Oka” (Best Right Wing).

The Pharaohs’ journey to the podium was flawless, as they won every single match in the competition. After topping their group with wins over Gabon, Angola, and Uganda, they swept the main round against Algeria and Nigeria.
They eventually secured their spot in the final by defeating Cape Verde 32-26 in the semi-finals, confirming their status as the undisputed leaders of African handball.
