Minister of Agriculture and Land Reclamation Alaa Farouk announced the ministry’s comprehensive plan to prepare for the holy month of Ramadan, asserting that the highest level of readiness was raised across all production sectors and ministry-affiliated outlets.
This step comes in implementation of the directives of the political leadership to ease the burden on citizens by providing high-quality food commodities at competitive prices and contributing to price stability and reductions.
Farouk gave directives to pump additional quantities of meat (fresh, chilled and frozen), poultry, rice, cooking oils, legumes, eggs and Ramadan seasonal goods across all fixed ministry outlets located at the Agricultural Research Center and the agricultural and land reclamation directorates nationwide.
He also decided to deploy mobile outlets targeting remote and most-in-need areas, public squares and densely populated districts, offering commodities at discounted prices of up to 25% compared to market rates. This comes under the “From Farm to Consumer” policy aimed at reducing intermediary layers and lowering final prices.
