Egypt’s Minister of Culture Ahmed Fouad Hanno on Thursday announced the launch of “A Library for Every Home” initiative, coinciding with the first day of the 57th edition of Cairo International Book Fair, held under the patronage of President Abdel Fattah El Sisi.
The initiative features 1,000 titles distributed across 50 diverse “cultural bags” offered at reduced prices, the minister said.
He added that the move aligns with the state’s commitment to supporting reading and disseminating culture on the widest possible scale, grating visitors the opportunity to acquire books from the very first day the fair opens its doors to the public.
The initiative aims to bring books to all Egyptian families and fair visitors from across the country by providing various publications at nominal prices, the minister said, noting that it draws upon the Culture Ministry’s diverse and rich inventory, which includes thousands of valuable publications, now being re-introduced as part of an initiative aimed at nurturing minds and building community awareness.
The initiative provides a “cultural bag” containing 20 books for a symbolic price not exceeding 100 EGP, available at the General Egyptian Book Organization’s discounted pavilion, Hanno added.
