Egyptian Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research Ayman Ashour reiterated on Sunday Egypt’s commitment to strengthening and developing co-operation with Mauritania in the fields of higher education and research.
This reflects the deep fraternal relations between the two countries, he said, emphasizing the ministry’s focus on nurturing and solidifying these ties to serve their shared interests.
Ashour made the remarks during his meeting with Mauritanian Ambassador in Cairo Hussein Sidi Abdullah Diya to discuss ways to enhance collaboration between Egypt and Mauritania in educational and research fields.
Ashour reiterated the ministry’s commitment to supporting Mauritanian students studying at Egyptian universities and institutes, ensuring they have the best educational environment under the “Study in Egypt” initiative.
This initiative aims to strengthen ties with various countries, with Egyptian universities offering to share their academic and research expertise with Mauritania, especially in priority disciplines.
He also emphasized Egypt’s readiness to promote collaboration in scientific research, innovation, and capacity building.
During the meeting, both sides discussed enhancing educational and research cooperation, focusing on supporting Mauritanian students in Egyptian universities, addressing the challenges they face, and exploring the possibility of increasing scholarships for Mauritanian students.
They also discussed boosting collaboration on joint research projects of mutual interest.
The Mauritanian ambassador praised the historic relations between Egypt and Mauritania and expressed his country’s desire to strengthen cooperation in higher education and research.
He noted the growing interest among Mauritanian students in studying at Egyptian universities due to their distinguished educational reputation and thanked the Egyptian Ministry of Higher Education for its commitment to the well-being of Mauritanian students, reinforcing Egypt’s position as a key educational destination.
