Minister of Foreign Affairs, Emigration and Egyptian Expatriates Badr Abdelatty held a virtual meeting Sunday with Egyptian communities in Cambodia, Singapore and Thailand.
The meeting is part of a series of engagements aimed at strengthening communication and building bridges between Egyptians abroad and their homeland.
Ambassador Nabil Habashi, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, Emigration and Egyptians Expatriates, Assistant Minister for Consular Affairs and Egyptians Abroad ambassador Haddad el-Gohary, Egypt’s ambassador to Singapore ambassador Ahmed Mostafa, Egypt’s ambassador to Thailand and non-resident ambassador to Cambodia and ambassador Hala Youssef took part in the meeting.
The Foreign minister voiced appreciation for the Egyptian communities’ role in enhancing bilateral relations between Egypt and the three countries, highlighting historical ties.
Abdelatty reviewed the Ministry’s efforts to improve consular services, including the digitization of official documents and various consular procedures.
The minister also discussed initiatives to strengthen connection between Egyptians abroad and their homeland, as well as investment incentives available to them.
Abdelatty emphasized the Ministry’s commitment to responding promptly to the needs of Egyptians abroad and encouraged coordination with the embassies in the three countries.
He urged the communities to continue representing Egypt positively abroad and affirmed the state’s support for its citizens overseas. He also encouraged active participation in elections, appreciating the efforts of diplomatic missions in facilitating voting for Egyptians abroad.
For is part the deputy minister of foreign affairs, emigration and Egyptians Expatriates highlighted the main outcomes of the 5th Conference of Egyptians Abroad, held in August that addressed Egyptians’ concerns abroad and introduced new initiatives in education, sports, investment, health insurance, banking and the improvement of services provided to Egyptians abroad.
He also reviewed mechanisms for direct communication with Egyptian communities, through social media and informational booklets to keep them updated on developments in Egypt.
